Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and ParcelDost. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. Please read section 6 on prohibited items and section 7 on liability carefully — senders are legally responsible for what is inside their parcel.
1. What ParcelDost is
ParcelDost is a community marketplace. We connect senders who want a parcel moved with verified travellers reached through friends, mutual friends and local communities, and we provide the verification, escrow, tracking and dispute tools that make the exchange safe.
We are not a courier or logistics company. We do not take custody of parcels and we do not carry them. The delivery contract is between the sender and the traveller. ParcelDost is not a party to it.
2. Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally able to enter into a contract in India.
- You must give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- One person, one account. Accounts are personal and must not be shared, sold or transferred.
3. Verification
Anyone can register and browse. Before your first transaction — posting a parcel, offering to carry one, or being named as a receiver — you must complete verification: a government ID check, a live selfie matched to that ID, and Aadhaar e-KYC with device binding. The Aadhaar-linked SIM must be in the device running the app.
We may refuse, suspend or re-run verification at any time if we suspect impersonation, fraud or account sharing.
4. Posting and carrying parcels
If you are a sender
- Describe the parcel honestly, including category, weight and dimensions, and upload clear photos or video of the item before it is packed.
- Choose a receiver from your friend list. Both of you must have accepted the connection, and the receiver must be verified.
- Sign the contents declaration for every parcel you post.
- Present the parcel unsealed at pickup, let the traveller inspect and photograph it, and seal it only once they have finished.
- Do not tamper with the parcel after the traveller has verified it.
If you are a traveller
- Only accept parcels you can genuinely carry on a journey you are actually making.
- Inspect the open parcel at pickup, check the contents match the listing, and upload your own photos before it is sealed.
- Refuse the pickup and report the sender if the contents do not match, look prohibited, or the sender will not open the parcel. You can cancel without penalty in these cases.
- Upload a photo of the sealed parcel before starting the trip, and keep tracking on for the journey.
- Hand the parcel only to the named receiver, and complete delivery by entering the code they give you.
5. Agreeing an amount, payment and withdrawal
- The delivery amount is agreed directly between the sender and the traveller. Senders suggest an amount when posting; travellers can accept it or propose their own. You discuss it in the app and settle on a final figure. ParcelDost does not set, cap or control this amount.
- Once the amount is agreed, the sender pays it into the app. Contact details are revealed only after this payment clears.
- The money is held by the platform for the duration of the delivery. The traveller cannot withdraw it while the parcel is in transit.
- The funds unlock when the traveller enters the one-time code given to them by the receiver. The traveller can then withdraw the amount from the app to their registered bank account.
- ParcelDost charges a flat platform fee of ₹10 per delivery. It does not vary with the delivery amount, the value of the parcel or the distance travelled. We take no percentage or commission on the amount you agree.
- Withdrawals are processed by our payment partner. Timing depends on that partner and your bank.
- Payments must stay on the platform. Settling a deal in cash or off-platform removes every protection in these terms and can get both accounts banned.
6. Prohibited items
You must never send, and must never agree to carry:
- Illegal drugs, narcotics or controlled substances
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives or their components
- Flammable, corrosive, radioactive or otherwise hazardous materials
- Currency, bullion, or bearer financial instruments
- Living animals, human remains, or biological or medical waste
- Counterfeit or stolen goods
- Obscene material, or anything else restricted or prohibited by Indian law
The full list is shown before you post and you must accept it each time. Listing photos and descriptions are screened automatically, and high-risk listings are held for manual review.
7. Responsibility for contents
The sender is solely and legally responsible for what is inside a parcel: that the contents are described accurately, that they are lawful, and that the parcel is not tampered with before the verified handover. The sender is liable for any legal, financial or regulatory consequence arising from the contents.
A traveller who follows the platform rules — in particular the open-parcel verification — is acting in good faith as an unknowing third party. We keep a complete evidence trail for every delivery (sender identity, item photos, signed declaration, chat logs, pickup photos, trip data) and we will provide it to law enforcement on lawful request, including where it helps establish that a traveller was not knowingly involved.
8. Disputes, damage and loss
- If a parcel arrives with a broken seal, damaged, or with contents missing, the receiver must raise a dispute in the app before confirming delivery.
- Raising a dispute freezes the escrow payment until we investigate using photos, chat and trip data.
- A traveller found responsible for tampering or theft will be permanently banned and held liable for the loss.
- A traveller who becomes suspicious mid-journey can pause the trip and report it for immediate guidance from support.
- Our decision on the release of escrow funds is final as far as the platform is concerned. It does not affect either party's right to pursue legal remedies.
9. Cancellations
Either side may cancel an accepted delivery, but late or repeated cancellations may attract a fee and will affect your reputation score. A traveller who cancels because a sender breached these terms — wrong contents, prohibited items, refusal to open the parcel — is never penalised. Escrow funds are returned to the sender when a delivery is cancelled before pickup.
10. Optional insurance
You can buy transit cover from a third-party insurer when listing, priced on the declared value. That cover is a contract between you and the insurer and is subject to their terms and exclusions. ParcelDost is not the insurer.
11. Conduct
You must not harass, threaten or discriminate against another user, misrepresent your identity, manipulate ratings, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or use ParcelDost for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate any account that breaches these terms.
12. Safety features
The SOS button, live tracking and reporting tools are there to help, but they do not replace the emergency services. In an emergency, call 112 first.
13. Limitation of liability
ParcelDost provides the platform "as is". To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts or omissions of users, for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit. Where we are found liable, our total liability for any claim is limited to the service fee we earned on the transaction in question.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Indian law, including under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
14. Suspension and account deletion
We may suspend or terminate your account for a breach of these terms, suspected fraud, or a risk to other users. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account; see the Delete your account page. Deleting your account does not cancel obligations that already exist, such as an in-progress delivery or an open dispute.
15. Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use ParcelDost after that means you accept the new terms.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
